SOV is a private, Lutheran, WASC accredited Preschool, Kindergarten and Elementary school

SOV Maximum Class Size:
20 Students

Shepherd of the Valley offers its students an excellent "whole person" preparation for life where the challenges of learning and achieving are exciting. Academic studies are very important to us and for our students, but as important as we feel academics are Shepherd feels strongly that students must also develop self-confidence, responsibility, self-discipline, independence, integrity, and group skills in order to successfully meet the challenges they will face in the future.

We offer preschool through 6th grade classes. All of our teachers are highly qualified and motivated, all classes have teacher assistants, and everyone gives loving and nurturing care to every student. In addition to high standards for all core academic courses, we also offer Spanish, music, and physical education. In addition, there are many after-school enrichment classes from which to choose.

Our athletic program offers team building activities that teach sportsmanship, healthy competition, leadership, and helps solidify a connection to the school. The after-school sports include: flag football, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and track. Of the 17 schools in the Valley Christian Elementary Athletic League (VCEAL), SOV is the only school that participates in all offered sports. In recent years, our teams have been VCEAL champions in softball, basketball, soccer, cross country, and track.

Shepherd's campus and well-maintained buildings are safe, beautiful, and "environmentally green"-- from a recycling program that the students are closely involved in to low energy classroom lighting to a new 15,000 sq. ft. artificial turf playground and sports' field that will never need any fertilizer, pesticides or water.

Shepherd of the Valley has been continuously providing top quality elementary education for 48 years at the same location. We are accredited and were the 2007 winner of the highly coveted Woodland Hills "Rose Award". And while some other schools may be cutting back or cutting corners, we are not and never have. We are conveniently located close to Calabasas, Canoga Park, Hidden Hills, West Hills and Woodland Hills.

At Peace with All Creation

This year our theme is based on Micah 6:8 - He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

The children will be hearing bible stories, presenting chapel programs, and singing songs that model this theme. They will continue to demonstrate stewardship of our global community by recycling, composting, raising money to help combat the devastating effects of malaria in Africa, and providing a poverty-stricken family their livelihood through Heifer International. These are just a few of the many efforts our students will participate in while living the theme "At Peace with all Creation."
